The municipality encompassed the southern part of the present-day municipality of Røros, excluding the mining town of Røros bergstad, stretching all the way south to Femunden and the Swedish border. ==History== The rural part of the Røros parish was established as a separate municipality called ''Røros landsogn'' in 1926 when the large municipality of Røros was split into four separate municipalities: Brekken, Glåmos, Røros bergstad, and Røros landsogn. Initially, Røros landsogn had a population of 701. On 1 January 1964, the four municipalities were reunited under the name Røros.
